Last summer, my cousin, Duane Artz gave me a call one day and said he and his wife, Lynn, were coming back for a family reunion on his Mom’s side of the family. He was wondering if we could put something together for his Dad’s side, as long as they were in town.
You’ve got to know that the Emch brothers, Larry (Butch), Pete, and myself spent many hours growing up playing all kinds of sports with the Artz family and, in particular, Duane. We have maintained a great relationship all these years, so it was easy to ask to try and pull something together.
Duane has a nephew, Jeff Dauer, who was my first call. Jeff had volunteered his home previously as a site to hold our get-together. He and his wife, Sue, graciously said yes.
So a call was put out to all family members about the get-together. Even though it was a short time frame, we had a good gathering. I think you’ll see from the pictures that Jeff and Sue’s place was an awesome location for this event. All the kids had a great time in the pond and Jeff’s big boy toys.
It was great to see everyone.
Duane, Lynn, my wife, Marian, and I ended the day with a few games of Euchre. They once again invited us down to their place in Georgia on our way down to our annual Florida stay. This time we stopped and had a great time with them. We hope to do it agan some day.
Enjoy the pics.
